Fr. Evrard Muhoza was born in Burundi. His family immigrated to Louisville in the summer of 2014, and he became a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He attended ESL Newcomer Academy to learn English for one year, then attended Jeffersontown High School, where he graduated in 2018.

After high school, Fr. Evrard began his Seminary formation at Bishop Simon Bruté College Seminary, while studying at Marian University, in Indianapolis.

He graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Studies and a minor in French. He continued his Seminary formation at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree. Fr. Evrard was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Louisville on May 30, 2026. He now serves as the Associate Pastor at St. Patrick.

Fr. Evrard’s desire to serve the Lord comes from the Eucharist that he celebrates daily. He compares his ministry as a priest to the monstrance, which is the

vessel in which the consecrated Host is held during Adoration. He says that the monstrance has only one function - to reveal Christ to the world. That is also the sole purpose of his ministry - to reveal the joy of the Gospel at Mass.

In his vocation, he is inspired by the compassion of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 9:36, it is written that “at the sight of the crowd, Jesus’ heart was moved.” In Fr. Evrard’s life, he has been moved by God’s compassion toward him and his family, which in return he shares with great joy.

In his free time, Fr. Evrard likes to play soccer, play video games, cook, sing, or hang out with his friends.
