I am Father Adam Carrico. I was ordained a priest on December 19, 2015 and named Associate Pastor at St. Patrick in June 2016.

I was born and raised in St. Aloysius Parish, Pewee Valley, so I am familiar with the geographic area which makes up St. Patrick parish. My father is from Springfield, Kentucky, and I am related to that branch of the Carrico family. I attended St. Aloysius grade school and graduated in 1997. I graduated from St. Xavier High School in 2001 and from there, went to U of L and earned a B.A. in History. While attending St. X and U of L, I worked at a local nursing home, Friendship Manor, located off New LaGrange Road; it is there that I developed my love of gardening as well as a vocation to service. A year and a half went by between U of L and seminary, and it was during that time that I intentionally began careful discernment of the call to the priesthood which had started back in the third grade. This discernment process was overseen by none other than our Pastor, Fr. Jeff, who has continued to have a significant influence on my vocation since that time. With the help of the Vocations Office, I began seminary studies at Saint Meinrad in 2008, graduated with an M.A. in Catholic Philosophical Studies in 2010, and finally with a Masters of Divinity in 2015.

I am the oldest of four: two brothers and a sister. Kevin lives with his family in Tampa, FL while Amanda lives with her husband in Crestwood. Our youngest sibling, Kurtis, passed away several years ago. Through his death and some other life events, I have encountered many ups and downs in life, and I am certainly no stranger to difficulty and heartbreak. It is with this lens that I approach people in my homilies and in ministry. I tell people that what I have been given in life is not mine to retain and this freedom empowers me to meet people where they are and reveal to them the light of Christ always at work in our lives. A ministry that I especially feel called to is working with children and young adults, and I am very excited to get to know the exceptional children of St. Patrick Catholic School. I have also come to realize that many of the girls who go to Sacred Heart Academy are also parishioners at St. Patrick. I have been active in the Sacred Heart community for the past year and am transitioning into the formal role of Associate Chaplain for the students, faculty, staff, and families that make up the amazing SHA community.
