Hello everybody!

Thanks to all who came to Masses this past weekend and especially for the Fall Sports blessing for athletes at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday. It was a great turnout! This coming weekend, we will have the Blessing of Animals on Saturday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. on the plaza in front of the church. Recognizing our Creator and God’s creation, this blessing honors the feast of St. Francis on October 4. We also begin Respect Life Month for October and will be collecting items for Lifehouse Maternity Home, a safe place for women and teens facing an unplanned pregnancy, and Little Way, a pregnancy resource center. Bags for the collection will be available in the gathering space.

You may recall that the Church is undertaking a worldwide process of listening for the upcoming Synod on Synodality. The summary report for all of the sessions held in Louisville at parishes, archdiocesan gatherings, and online has been sent for the next phase of the process, which will then be shared in Rome. If you’re interested in what surfaced from our process in the Archdiocese of Louisville, our report can be read at this link: https://www.archlou.org/synod-2022/

It is good to be back home! Dr. Sturtzel and I returned from our trip to Colorado. It was a whirlwind, but served as an amazing opportunity to build relationship, inspire vision, and reflect on leadership. I am grateful to all of our staff and volunteers who give me such great confidence in our parish community and ministry. Thank you all for your prayers!

May our hearts, minds, and souls be open to God’s love and grace this week.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Backroom Tour of St. Patrick Church, Monday, October 10 from

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Join us and learn about the symbolism contained in the ceiling, floor, walls, windows, chapel, baptismal font, and more. See adjacent rooms and learn about their function in the fulfillment of our sacred liturgies. Why is there wood only on the center portion of our Church’s ceiling? What are those unusually-shaped symbols in the Church’s floor? What is the origin and meaning of the crucifix? What is the significance of those cross-shaped sconces on the Church’s walls? Why is the baptismal font shaped like it is? Is it true that the Church has an actual relic of our patron St. Patrick? This tour will answer those questions and many more. Register to Tim Grove at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org.

40 Days for Life Collection in October: Collection bags for Lifehouse and Little Way are in the gathering space. Please return the filled bags to the St. Brigid Room located next to the parish copier room by the end of October. You can change the world, one LIFE at a time.

Thanks to all Habitat Volunteers: We had the formal dedication of 4408 Ginkgo Trail last Saturday and it was a very special occasion for all who attended. It was another reminder about how all of our team members are actively changing the lives of so many children and parents. Ciara Stone was so grateful to Habitat, her Advocates, the five Catholic Churches that were her sponsors and all of the volunteers that made it possible for them to have this home! In their current situation her 5 year old daughter, Jocelyn and her 9 year old son, Lamar, share a bedroom. Knowing that they are going to be living in a safe and secure environment and that they can play outside with friends means everything to her.

Thank you from the St John Center: What a joy to see 3 truckloads of “Welcome Home” supplies being delivered to our Center. The supplies will help the men settle into their new homes and when they do, it increases the chances they will be successful in their new place. Thanks to St Patrick parish for partnering with us to help homeless men find permanent housing. We appreciate your support.
