Hello everybody!
In the joy of going home, St. Patrick, and being the new associate pastor here, I feel that the past weeks were a time of grace, gladness, and happiness. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all of you who have loved me in ways that words cannot express your love, hospitality, kindness, support, generosity, and sacrifice. You all have made me much less worried and much more confident to begin a new mission, new responsibility, and new journey of my life in spite of my inexperience as a baby-priest. Also, I appreciate your effort and support through working together in the activities of our parish to create a community of faith and love. I hope you are continuing to cooperate with one another in establishing an engaged local Church.
Our Annual Mission Appeal, spoken by Deacon Andy Heinsohn, is this weekend at all Masses to support the Family Support Services Program through Catholic Charities. It is a great opportunity for us to become witnesses of love and hope as what Jesus has desired his people to do and the Church has called her children to perform in our world. With the purpose of strengthening at-risk families and providing a better life and future for their children, this program helps us become an instrument of comfort and healing for the sick, the poor, and the vulnerable in society. Thank you for your generosity and support!
The final phase of the Beacon of Hope campaign is full speed ahead. It includes complete HVAC renovation of Miles Hall made up of 14 classrooms, storage, maintenance, bathrooms and a maker space classroom. We are grateful for the generosity from many parishioners. Thank you for your willingness to serve our community. We appreciate your cooperation and support in building our Church. Enjoy the latest virtual tour on YouTube of our new preschool.
Fr. Jeff is on vacation with his mom. He told us this is the first time since 1992 that he and his mom will go on vacation together. I believe that it is a memorable vacation. Wishing both of them a wonderful trip with days full of sunshine, excitement, and joy. Also, some of our staff are on their vacation. It is a great time for the refreshment of your body, heart, and motivation to serve our community with love and devotion.
Blessings,
Fr. Quan
Highlights
Mission Appeal this weekend: We have chosen a local focus in the city this year in partnership with Catholic Charities and their Family Support Services Program. Donation envelopes and brochures will be in the bulletin or you can donate online HERE. This program focuses on the local needs of families with children up to five years old in partnership with the Catholic Charities. The funds we raise will go to parenting skills training, maternal health, safe sleep, and car safety. In particular, we will support skills training for mothers on infant care, grandparent training for those who are raising children, accompaniment via Mama Matters and support groups, and Family Support On the Go (FSOTG) where local experts teach ongoing parent training. All of these programs help to strengthen at risk families and provide a better life and future for their children. Deacon Andy Heinsohn will speak at all the masses. Thanks in advance for your support!

Come As You Are! Inquire about the Catholic faith through the R.C.I.A Process: Have you attended Mass for years with your Catholic spouse and now feel ready to explore the teachings of the Catholic faith more fully? Has your child's attendance in the Parish Religious Education Program or St. Patrick School led you to an interest in Catholicism? Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are invited to “come as you are.” Find out if the time is right for you to enter the process that leads to the celebration of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and your entry into full communion with the Catholic faith. There are no obligations. The RCIA meets from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Mondays beginning August 16. For more information, contact Tim Grove at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org.
Serve As Sponsor This Year In The RCIA Process At St. Patrick: Every year, men, women, and young adults come to the RCIA process wanting to establish a new or renewed relationship with God and a faith community in the Catholic tradition. Sponsors are always needed to journey with these “inquirers.” Sponsors join the RCIA process in early November and serve as spiritual companions to the inquirers, who seek entry into full communion with the Catholic faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Sponsors serve through April as hospitable and welcoming representatives of the parish. Training is provided. Even for sponsors, the RCIA process is a wonderful experience of renewed faith and a deepened spiritual life. If you are feeling called to this form of service, please contact Tim Grove, coordinator of the RCIA, at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org.
