Constant Contact Message from 9/20/2022

Hello everybody,

It was in college at the Air Force Academy that I encountered the depths of God’s love and grew in my faith as a young adult. I was blessed by many friends, family, and different faith communities that challenged and supported that journey. It is also where I began to discern God’s call in my life to priesthood. Those relationships and experiences were formational and foundational to my understanding of God’s love and ministry. In 2015, much of the pastoral staff from St. Pats took a type of leadership retreat or pilgrimage to Colorado, which bore great fruit for our team and for our mission to build God’s kingdom.

I am excited to share with you that Dr. Nathan Sturtzel, our school principal, and I will be heading to Colorado on Wednesday evening for a similar experience. It is a personal investment in Dr. Sturtzel’s leadership and our collaborative relationship for transformational and transcendent shepherding of our parish family. I trust it will likewise bear fruit for our mission. I am grateful to Dr. Sturtzel and his wife, Kailey, for their willingness to facilitate this opportunity and to all of our clergy, staff, and faculty who make this possible. I ask you for your prayers for this journey. Thank you!

On Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. Mass, our Fall Sports Blessing for athletes will take place. I invite all of our athletes to come and wear your jerseys or uniforms. I am grateful to our members of the Celtic Athletic Ministry (CAM), all of our coaches and assistants, our parents and guardians, and our athletes for their efforts and participation. God bless our athletes!

And God bless you all!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Backroom Tour of St. Patrick Church on Monday, October 10: Follow the lead of an experienced guide team on a fascinating tour of the interior spaces of St. Patrick Church from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 10. Learn about all of the symbolism contained in the ceiling, floor, walls, windows, chapel, baptismal font, and more. See adjacent rooms and learn about their function in the fulfillment of our sacred liturgies. Why is there wood only on the center portion of our Church’s ceiling? What are those unusually-shaped symbols in the Church’s floor? What is the origin and meaning of the crucifix? What is the significance of those cross-shaped sconces on the Church’s walls? Why is the baptismal font shaped like it is? Is it true that the Church has an actual relic of our patron St. Patrick? This tour will answer those questions and many more. Contact Tim Grove at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org to register.
