Weekly #37

Constant Contact Message from 12/01/2020

Hi everyone,

It’s an honor to be pinch hitting today as the scribe for the opening article in Fr. Jeff’s absence. We are happy to report that Fr. Jeff’s surgery took place Monday afternoon and the doctor feels good about his condition. He will likely have a 3-4 day stay in the hospital before he can come home. Please continue to keep him in your prayers for a safe and smooth recovery.

It was a special weekend for our seminarian friend, Quan Nguyen, who was ordained to the transitional diaconate this past Saturday at the Cathedral of the Assumption. Deacon Quan spent some time at St. Patrick over the past few years assisting with pastoral ministry needs. He also completed a milestone during his time at St. Patrick when he learned how to drive from one of our parishioners. Pretty cool! We look forward to seeing Deacon Quan at St. Patrick this weekend as he is scheduled to preach at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, December 5. Join us!

We also lit the first purple candle on the Advent wreath, the candle of Hope, this past weekend. With so much darkness going on in the world right now due to the pandemic, consider praying for someone this week who is down and losing hope. This could be due to job loss, sickness, loneliness or addiction. What can we do to rekindle the light of hope in that person’s heart?

Advent opportunities at St. Patrick this year are limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, however, we are happy to offer the following:

  • Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Brigid Room: December 2, 9 and 16
  • Advent prayer books and Sunday Missals in the gathering space
  • Blessing of the Child in the Womb on Dec. 5/6 at 5:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses
  • Follow Dan the Donkey on Instagram and Facebook #STPDantheDonkey: Dan is the "Elf on the Shelf" for Children's Formation. This year he will participate in a daily Advent photo challenge inspired by Busted Halo.

Wishing everyone a safe and productive week!

Take care,

Lynne Marshall

Director of Engagement

Christmas Mass Schedule (Attendance at all Christmas Masses will require reservations)

  • Christmas Eve: 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: 10:00 a.m. and Noon
  • Masses live-streamed at 6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and 12:00 p.m. Christmas Day

Please read these important details prior to reserving seats for Advent and Christmas Masses:

  • Those attending Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass must reserve your seating in the online system by 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays (the night before). This is only for all 11:00 a.m. Sunday Masses. It is not for Saturday or other scheduled Sunday Mass times.

  • All Christmas Mass reservations will be closed at noon on December 23 or when Masses are full. At this time, our 4:00 p.m. Mass is full. Seats are filling quickly at our other Christmas Eve Masses.

  • Please allow St. Patrick Parish Staff 24 hours to respond with an email confirmation on your reservation. Make sure you are firm in your reservation numbers and Mass times when making your reservations.

  • If you do not have a computer, there will be sign up sheets in the gathering space after all Masses. Fill out the requested information and staff will contact you.

What happens once you have reserved your seats:

  1. You will receive a confirmation email once staff approves your seats. Please thoroughly check your email (regular inbox, spam, junk, etc.).
  2. Know your seats when you arrive. That allows you to seat yourself and avoid lines.
  3. Arrive at Mass a bit early to help crowds and confusion at the last minute.
  4. Be aware that we follow the guidelines of Safe At Worship through the direction of the Archdiocese of Louisville. Please be kind to staff and parishioners involved in liturgy who are trying to assist the parish.

Instructions to reserve seating online:

  1. Go to stpatlou.org or the link http://stpatrickcatholicchurch.churchreserve.com/
  2. A window will open asking for your name, email address, phone and number of seats you are requesting. Please fill in all information.
  3. You will see a diagram of the church layout. Available seats are in blue.
  4. Click on the seats you would like to reserve. ONLY click on what you need. When you click on more, you prevent others from attending. Seats are already socially distanced. Blue seats designate the amount of people we can have in church. If you bring more people than you have reserved, they will not be seated. We will not exceed capacity for everyone’s safety.
  5. A window will open and will show your seats (ex. D-16-11, D-16-10). Click the blue reserve button if you are ready to reserve your seats or cancel if you want to make a different choice.
  6. A window will open notifying you that you will receive an email confirmation. At this time you may reserve other seats for other Masses or you may close the program.
  7. Please be aware that your reservation will be received and reviewed by staff. You will receive a final email with your reservation after it is reviewed. It is our goal to keep seating as parishioners request, but adjustments could be made if the number of reserved seats do not fit seating capacity, a request comes in for a special need, etc. Please check your email and know your reservations when you come to church.
  8. If you have your confirmation email, you can seat yourself. If you do not, ushers or staff will be able to help you.
  9. If at any point you need to change a reservation, you must call the Parish Office at 244-6083 or email Jeanette Rowland at jrowland@stpatlou.org.
