Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)
St. Patrick’s Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) is offered for students in
Grades 1 through 6 who do not attend Catholic school. PREP gives these parish children the opportunity to
have their Catholic faith nurtured through formation and instruction in scripture and Church Tradition, prayer
and worship, community, and service by catechists who work in two-person teams. PREP happens from 9:45
to 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings [between the 8:30 and 11 a.m. masses], Sept. 12 through May 1, 2022 in
the Bowling Commons, which is one level below the Church.
Sunday, Sept. 12 is the first day of class for Grades 1 through 6. Student orientation will happen within each
classroom that same Sunday. Parent orientation will happen via one or two handouts that will be emailed.
Children in Grades 7 & 8 meet for Confirmation preparation from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Sept. 19 in
Schindler Hall. For details about Confirmation, click here to reach the Confirmation page at the Youth
Online registration is now open for Gr. 1 to 6 PREP and for Gr. 7 & 8 Confirmation preparation. Click HERE
to complete the two-step process. First step is entering all data on yourselves and your children. Step two is
payment. PREP and Confirmation preparation are still $50 per child. That fee has not increased in my 18 years
at St. Patrick. Make it 19. [Fees are automatically waived for any children whose parent serves as a catechist or
aide in PREP.]
St. Patrick supports families during times of financial hardship. If your current circumstance requires you to request
a waiver of the $50 fee per child, no problem. Contact me at (502) 719-0362 or by email at email@example.com.
All waiver requests are kept confidential and no questions are asked.
IF YOUR CHILD IS ENTERING SECOND GRADE, which is a sacrament year, please contact Tammy Kessler,
coordinator of Grade 2 sacrament preparation, at firstname.lastname@example.org Just write, "Hey Tammy, our son [name]/our
daughter [name] wants to prepare for sacraments this year. What do we do?" Tammy will respond promptly with all
of the instructions.
While St. Patrick continues to monitor the lingering effects of COVID-19 and its variants, PREP will begin the new program
year with in-person classes at full capacity. These are the parish-wide guidelines we are currently following for worship and
all other gatherings at St. Patrick:
