Weekly #121

Constant Contact Message from 7/12/2022

Hello everybody!

I am excited to announce that Madison Monnin will be joining us full time as the Coordinator of Hospitality and Communication. While I am grateful for and will miss Erik Huff on staff, Madison will be an awesome addition to our team. She has been serving as one of our Youth Ministry Associates for almost 3 years and is a familiar face at St. Patrick. Madison and her husband Darrin were married at St. Patrick in April 2022. She is a graduate of Bellarmine University and is an Associate Catechist with a concentration in catechetical ministry. Please join me in congratulating Madison and welcoming her in this new role. She will begin to train with Erik next week and her first weekend of serving hospitality for masses will be July 30/31.

Please continue to pray for our Youth Ministry folks who are on a mission trip in Guatemala. Our Director of Youth Ministry, Jonna O’Bryan, said they are enjoying their time so far even though it has been emotional because there is so much hardship and poverty. They have been inspired, as well, by the immense hope and joy of the people. She said, “I know none of us are coming back as the same person who left last Friday.” May God work through and in them!

Thank you for supporting our mission appeal with Nativity Academy at St. Boniface this past weekend. You can still make an online gift HERE and choose the 2022 Mission Appeal Fund. I am grateful for your generosity to Nativity and their life transforming mission.

As the summer rolls on, may God bless you and grant you joy.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Ministry Help Needed for Ushers at Mass: Ushers are important to our worship experience!

What do ushers do?

  • Greet parishioners and guests prior to Mass
  • Escort those needing assistance from the front curb to the entrance and to their seats
  • Arrange for gift bearers as parishioners arrive for Mass
  • Handout participation guides when in use
  • Manage the gathering space doors as Mass begins and ends
  • Be alert to helping anyone needing assistance during Mass
  • Guide Mass attendees to Holy Communion
  • Retrieve stewardship gifts from Collection Boxes and place them in safe following Mass
  • Hand out bulletins as parishioners exit
  • Tidy up the church after Mass

Who is eligible to Usher? Any adult parishioner and their school age children can help if the adult is present. Otherwise, any parishioner above the age of 16 is eligible.

Is training provided? Yes! It takes 15 minutes before or after Mass or a scheduled weeknight.

How often will I be asked to usher if I sign up? Generally, one weekend Mass per month at a time you prefer to attend Mass. The parish grants you access to a scheduling software where you provide time preferences. You are then assigned to a team and scheduled with that team, with email reminders issued each Wednesday of the week you are to serve. The software also allows you to request a sub for those times when schedule conflicts arise.

Who do I talk to contact and how do I sign up? Contact Joe Clements via phone or text @ 724-9101, or email@jfclementsjr@bellsouth.

New Ministry Opportunity with the Rosary Guild: Do you pray the Rosary? Do you have an interest in learning about this form of prayer? Would you and your family like to make rosaries? Our Rosary Guild prays the Rosary before masses on weekdays and our weekend masses (excluding Sunday evenings). We are looking at sharing our prayer practice with our St. Patrick community and beyond. If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out to Mike LaFramboise at mike@ourexile.com or 777-1003.

All are welcome!

Learning Together

You Are Invited! Inquire About the Catholic Faith Through RCIA: Have you attended Mass for years with your Catholic spouse and now feel ready to explore the teachings of the Catholic faith more fully? Has your child's attendance in the Parish Religious Education Program or St. Patrick School made you curious about Catholicism? Are you wondering about life’s deeper meaning and your life’s purpose? Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are invited to “come as you are.” Ask questions and learn about the Catholic faith. Find out if the time is right for you to fulfill the process that leads to the celebration of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and your entry into full communion with the Catholic faith. There are no obligations. The RCIA meets from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., Mondays starting August 22. For more information, please contact Tim Grove at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org.

Sponsors Needed This Year in the RCIA Process: Every year, men, women, and young adults come to the RCIA process wanting to establish a new or renewed relationship with God and a faith community in the Catholic tradition. Sponsors are always needed to journey with these “inquirers.” Sponsors join the RCIA process in early November and serve as spiritual companions to the inquirers, who many times seek entry into full communion with the Catholic faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Sponsors serve through April as hospitable and welcoming representatives of the parish. Training is provided. Even for sponsors, the RCIA process is a wonderful experience of renewed faith and a deepened spiritual life. If you are feeling called to this form of service, please contact Tim Grove, coordinator of RCIA, at 719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org.
