Hello everybody!
One of my cousins recently spent several months out west with his dog, truck, and a tent on a road trip adventure. To be honest, I was a little jealous of his freedom, excitement, and experience of independence and boundless possibility. On a deeper level, however, while I recognize that there is some appeal and value to that kind of experience, at least for a time, I would never want to build a life like that. I desire to be connected and engaged, to contribute, to make a difference, and to build solid and deep relationships. I truly value every opportunity to do that with God and others. That’s why I am excited about the Catholic Services Appeal. It is one of my favorite times of the year because it is an opportunity to reflect and pray about what we, as a Catholic family throughout the Archdiocese, do together and what God is asking me to do, in particular. It is a gift!
We need your support to reach our goal as a parish community. More importantly, each of us need the occasion to consider our priorities, to recognize how God has blessed us, and to be a blessing for others. God works for, with, and through us. In this time of pandemic, economic hardships, racial tensions, and political divisions, the CSA is a concrete opportunity to be connected and engaged, to contribute, to make a difference, and to build solid and deep relationships. Just in the last six months, your generosity has provided significant financial support for all 110 parishes in the Archdiocese, assisted in returning to safe and reverent worship, reopened our schools, provided for those who have struggled financially, and hosted over 300 group conversations about the personal experience of racism in our society. Much more is done every day through donations to the CSA. I am thankful that I am able to be a part of that good work. Every donation, no matter the size, is important. Please consider joining me in God’s work through the CSA.
What does God want to do through you?
I also want to thank those of you who have offered your support and prayers for my upcoming back surgery and recovery. Your thoughtfulness is so much appreciated. I’ll have my pre-op testing tomorrow and surgery will be next Wednesday. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff

Faithful Citizenship
St. Patrick Issues Forums
The St. Patrick Issues Forums Team provides opportunities and resources for discussion and reflection on relevant topics as Catholic U.S. citizens. Currently, we have a Faithful Citizenship page on the parish website which provides the USCCB Document, "The Challenge of Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship" parts I and II. Along with those resources are two "civil discourse" resources which may help you find ways to have respectful dialogue with family or friends. Check back periodically for new material. https://stpatlou.org/faithfulcitizenship
Catholics Care. Catholics Vote. Form Your Conscience.
In their statement on Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, the U.S. Catholic bishops urge Catholics to form their consciences through being open to truth, studying Scripture and Church teaching, examining facts and background information, and prayerful reflection (no. 18). Visit www.faithfulcitizenship.org to learn about the steps you can take to form your conscience, watch videos and access other great resources on conscience formation for faithful citizens.

Knights of Columbus Membership Drive-October 17/18: Our local council, Fr. Roy Dentinger #390 will be holding a membership drive at all Masses the weekend of October 17/18. Whether you become an individual member or a member of our council, you will find that Knights of Columbus membership brings Catholic men together in a powerful way. Along with the membership drive, tootsie rolls will be handed out and donations are welcome. Funds received are used to support people with intellectual disabilities. Time to Update your Records! Does our Church database have your family membership records correct? Have you changed your phone number? Email? Have you moved? Are all of your children still at home and are they included in your membership record? Do you want your record published in the annual Directory? Now is your opportunity to update your records for our if you have not already done so. Please contact the Parish Office to notify us of the changes at (502)244-6083. Thank you for your help!
Guide Book & Directory Advertising Opportunity: We are in the process of updating our annual Ministry Guide Book and Directory. This book will contain everything pertinent to our church. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Parish Office at (502)244-6083. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will pay” to advertise in our Guide Book & Directory.

Helpful Tips at 11:00 a.m. Mass:
- Seats are already marked off in groups on a diagram so that we can move faster. We use this diagram so that we can know where we can seat the last arrivals as well.
- Please know that we are working as fast as we can and those who are helping to seat people are volunteers. Regrettably, we don't have the flexibility to barter for a better seat (or one that we are used to) as we would have to overhaul the diagram and that takes a lot of time. The diagram has everyone socially distanced 4 seats in between. Bartering causes us to veer from that.
- You may wish to consider coming to a different Mass, for example, the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Sunday night has more availability at this time.
- Arriving earlier (20 - 25 minutes) yields more availability for your group, no matter the size.
Reconciliation: 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. If you would like to set up a private appointment with one of our priests, please call the Parish Office (502-244-6083).
Eucharistic Adoration: First Tuesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Letters will be mailed to parishioners who have reported such losses to the parish office in the last year. Due to Covid, we may not have everyone on the list.
