Weekly #54

Constant Contact Message from 3/30/2021

Hello everybody!

Holy Week has begun. You are in my prayers as we journey this week with the Lord. I hope it is a time of encountering God’s peace for you and your family. May the blessings of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with you.

Our Triduum and Easter masses and celebrations are full. This is a great blessing for our community, but may also be a source of angst for those who are unable to attend. I am sorry for the limitations. Our guiding principles are for safe and reverent worship. With social distancing requirements and in the attempt to have the largest number of people attend each service safely, the reservation system allows for designated seating locations six feet from others. Although good, it is not a perfect system and we are reviewing alternatives as we move forward. I do want to thank everyone who has been part of the process or has provided input. Thank you.

It saddens me that we are still in the pandemic and that everyone who wants to celebrate Easter with us is unable to do so. Please accept my apologies. I know it is not the same, but we do have resources available for those who will celebrate at home which can be picked up in the gathering space and we will be streaming services. As I write this, there are also some openings at the 8:30 a.m. Easter Sunday mass at St. Boniface, if you would like to join Fr. Steven there.

Thank you for your understanding, your engagement with our community, and for your faith. May God bring you through his passion and death to the joy of the resurrection and new life. God bless you!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Communicating Across Divides: How to Talk About Difficult Issues on Thursday, April 22 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Miles Meeting Room(located off main church entrance past the school doors). Many of us deeply feel the divisiveness of our time. We long to have bridge-building conversations about polarizing issues and yet when we try, we end up frustrated, angry, and wondering how "they" (whoever "they" are) can possibly believe what they believe, say what they're saying, support who or what they support. Not knowing how to navigate these conversations is particularly painful when “they” are people we love. This workshop will help you...

  • Identify ways to maintain connection so that both parties have a chance to speak honestly and be heard
  • Move from “us” and “them” to a greater sense of shared vision
  • Cultivate win-win conversations

This two-hour workshop will be led by Cory Lockhart. Cory is a teacher, artist, public speaker, and peacemaker. She facilitates classes and workshops for teens and adults on nonviolence and nonviolent communication and also helps groups to navigate difficult conversations. Cory was the 2016 recipient of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville Angeline Award. Cory will introduce participants to the Nonviolent/Compassionate Communication (NVC) framework, which explores strategies for finding connection across divides, while standing firmly in our own values and integrity. Due to "Safe at Worship" protocols, which includes physical distancing, in-person attendance is limited to the first 14 registrants. Additional registrants may join virtually. Contact Tim Grove at tgrove@stpatlou.org or

(502) 719-0362 to register. There is no fee. Sponsored by St. Patrick's Issues Forums Team.

Serving Together

Serving the Suffering Christ: As we enter Holy Week and celebrate Palm Sunday, let us reflect on how our Lord suffered from our indifference: those who proclaimed him king of Jerusalem were the same who called to crucify him. We recognize we are all one human family. Are we contributing to the suffering of our sisters and brothers with our indifference to their realities? How does our faith inspire us to care for them and share the gifts that God has bestowed on us? To donate to the Rice Bowl online via Pushpay, click HERE and choose Rice Bowl fund.

40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign: Thanks to all who stood in prayer as a witness to the dignity of human life, most especially the vulnerable unborn. You can change the world, one LIFE at a time!
