Constant Contact Message from 9/7/2021

‌‌‌‌‌Hello everybody!

One of the pillars of stewardship at St. Pats is Joining Together (along with Praying, Learning, Giving, and Serving Together). That is building community and connecting with others. We are made for relationships and there are many ways to join with your friends (or soon to be friends) at St. Pats. Adult volleyball is coming back, the Men’s Club and Women’s Circle are active, families with young children are meeting, there are many youth activities upcoming, the 40 Days for Life Fall prayer campaign begins on September 22, and the Leprechauns (55 and up) are gathering. There is something for everyone! There is an element of Joining Together when we gather for the celebration of the Eucharist, as well. We are brothers and sisters in Christ on the journey to heaven with one another. Community isn’t just an optional thing or window dressing and we are better together. We need each other! I encourage you to take a look at the latest video on the meaning of the Eucharist. This short vid will inspire and encourage: https://youtu.be/jbE9aY0bomc.

I am pleased that our Sunday School and Nursery will be open this weekend at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. I offer my thanks and gratitude to all who are helping to make St. Pats a community of faith and love.

I also wanted to ask for your continued prayers for Fr. Bob Osborne (Fr. Oz) and for Fr. Tom Boland. Fr. Bob came through both of his surgeries well and he has a new pacemaker. Because of the previous infection, he is on antibiotics for four weeks and is at Nazareth Home on Newburg Road for that time. Fr. Tom, who was the second pastor at St. Pats, was having some lung issues and the doctors think he has lung cancer. They are doing more tests and will determine possible treatments following. Please pray for both of these fine and long serving priests. Thank you.

May God bless you, your friends, and your families. For what it means to live a fully human and holy life, don’t miss out on friendship and community. Join in!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Learning Together

Blessing Of Catechetical Ministers, Sunday, September 19, 11:00 a.m. Mass: We will bless those parishioners who devote themselves to catechetical ministry. Catechists are those who have heard the voice of God through their life experience, prayer, worship, the pondering of Scripture, and the teachings of the Church. They share their own small light in order to ignite the flame of faith in others. Through their actions and words they invite others to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a high calling to share the good news of Jesus Christ. This happens through a vast and growing variety of ministries, including Parish Religious Education Program (PREP), Parish School, RCIA Team, Adult Faith Formation Team, Sacrament preparation teams, adult Bible studies including Believers and Fishermen studies, Giving Teams for Welcome retreat ministry, Women’s Circle, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and all Youth Ministry programs. Please come and receive the Church's blessing.

Attention Men of the Parish: Sign-up now for the next Welcome Retreat on September 25/26: Welcome is an incredible experience that helps you discover what’s missing in your life and what to do about it. Welcome retreat weekends will help you:

  • Find clarity and purpose in your life
  • Form meaningful relationships
  • Become a better parent, spouse, friend
  • Take your faith to a whole new level

Welcome Retreats take place on the St. Patrick campus and are open to persons 21 years of age and older. There is no cost to participate. Contact: Chris Shipaila at (502) 437-9499 or stpatswelcome@gmail.com.

Enroll Children Now In Christian Initiation Preparation Process: Grades 3-8 who missed earlier opportunities to celebrate the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist – can fulfill those sacraments through a 10-session process that begins in October and concludes with the celebration of the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, April 16, 2022. This preparation process is led by Lindsay Mahoney, a St. Patrick School religion teacher. It includes three public rituals [all celebrated at 11 a.m. Mass], a Saturday morning retreat, and an afternoon of service. To enroll or for more information, please contact Tim Grove, Director of Faith Formation at tgrove@stpatlou.org or (502)719-0362.

Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)Offered to students in Grades 1-6 who do not attend a Catholic school: PREP nurtures a child's faith through formation and instruction in scripture and Church Tradition, prayer and worship, community, and service by catechists who work in two-person teams. PREP happens from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings [between the 8:30 and 11 a.m. masses], Sept. 12 through May 8, 2022 in the Commons area, which is one level below the church.

Confirmation Preparation is provided for children in Grades 7/8. Sessions happen from 9am to noon beginning September 19 in Schindler Hall. Visit the Youth Ministry Website for details.

Online Registration Open for Grades 1 to 6 PREP and Grades 7 & 8 Confirmation: Click HERE to complete the two-step process. First step is entering all data on yourselves and your children. Step two is payment. PREP and Confirmation preparation are still $50 per child. That fee has not increased in 18 years. St. Patrick supports families during times of financial hardship. If your current circumstance requires you to request a waiver of the $50 fee per child, contact Tim Grove at (502) 719-0362 or email at tgrove@stpatlou.org

If Your Child Is Entering 2nd Grade: It’s a sacrament year so please contact Tammy Kessler, Children’s Formation Coordinator at tkessler@stpatlou.org and let her know your child wants to prepare for the sacraments this year. She will respond with all the details.

Parents whose children have particular learning or behavioral needs or would like to homeschool their children in faith formation are asked to contact Tim Grove at (502)719-0362 or tgrove@stpatlou.org. We are in need of at least two people per hour to stand as prayerful, public witnesses to the dignity of LIFE, especially the innocent unborn child.
