Constant Contact Message from 1/11/2021

‌‌‌‌Hello everybody!

I want to express my gratitude on behalf of myself, Fr. Quan, Fr. Tony, and Fr. Bob for your generosity to us at Christmas and for the love, support, and appreciation we feel from you for our ministry at St. Pats. Fr. Bob is doing well and has become quite comfortable at Nazareth Home on Newburg while being able to drive and get to various activities. He is exploring remaining there instead of returning to his patio home. Fr. Tony is as busy as ever helping at St. Pats and various other parishes. Fr. Quan enjoyed a few days of vacation after Christmas (his first since arriving) and has delayed a planned trip home to Vietnam until after the current Covid surge has passed. It is actually a requirement for priests to take a retreat each year, but because of Covid, I was unable to do so last year. I will be going on retreat, however, on January 22 through the 29th. I’m looking forward to the time to renew my faith and go deeper in my relationship with God. Please pray for me.

It has been an eventful week at St. Pats and I am thankful for the dedication and effort of our staff and the flexibility of all of our ministries. In particular, we have a great team working on maintenance and I thank them for all of the extra work they have been doing. With the surge and the snow, the pressures on our school faculty and staff have been significant and it is amazing to see them continue to adjust, adapt, and move forward in extreme circumstances. A big thanks to them and to all of our school families for coming together in the midst of challenges and responding with grace and love. I am so grateful for Dr. Sturtzel and his leadership team in these trying times.

We continue to progress as a faith community with resilience, patience, hope and love. During this surge, we do recommend that everyone wear a mask for public gatherings and ministries and it is still required on campus during the school day or at events with students and for anyone who is not yet vaccinated. Hopefully the peak of this surge will pass in the next week or two. Nonetheless, we are a beacon of Christ’s love in our community and beyond. Please continue to pray for those who are affected by the pandemic and for health care professionals and first responders. We are better together.

May God bless you and keep you.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Children’s Formation

Baptism: Our Baptism ministry continues to expand. If you are interested, please reach out to Tammy Kessler at tkessler@stpatlou.org. The time commitment is about 1.5 hours per month and it provides you with the opportunity to work with families choosing to raise their children in the Catholic faith.

If you intend to have your child receive First Holy Communion and they are not yet baptized, please reach out to Tammy Kessler, tkessler@stpatlou.org for guidance.

First Communion Prayer Partners: First Communion will be celebrated at the end of April. We will begin our parish-wide prayer partner program in February. In the meantime, if you are interested in "adopting" a 2nd-grade prayer partner, please contact Tammy Kessler, tkessler@stpatlou.org to be put on the communication list.

Youth Volunteer Opportunities: St. Patrick loves youth volunteers! We have several ministries that could use help from our youth that are 5th grade and older. The sign-up links and a brief explanation of the events are listed below.

Ministry of Families with Young Children St. Valentine Party: This event will host some of our youngest parishioners and includes games, crafts, STEM stations, and snacks. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for those youth who like hands-on activities and working with varied ages of children. SIGN-UP

The Sunday Nursery meets at 11:00 a.m. and is available for families with children ages one through three. The Nursery is a perfect volunteer opportunity for youth who like to babysit younger children. SIGN-UP

Sunday School meets at 11:00 a.m. and is available for children ages four through 1st grade. This is an excellent opportunity for youth who like to work side by side doing lessons, crafts and games. SIGN-UP

Vacation Bible Camp Planning Team: The tentative plan is to host a three-day "Monumental" camp experience on June 14-16. We begin planning in January and need the assistance of creative adults who enjoy working with and planning events for children. If you are interested in being on the leadership team or have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Tammy Kessler, tkessler@stpatlou.org.
